About The Author

Dr. Aly Cohen is a triple board-certified physician in rheumatology, internal medicine, and integrative medicine and one of the country’s leading medical and legal experts in environmental health. In addition to lecturing on environmental health at universities, medical schools, and physician-training programs, she is on the faculty of the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine, Southern California University of Health Sciences, and the University of California, Irvine, where she creates and manages environmental medicine curriculum for doctors and researchers. Dr. Cohen is also coauthor of the bestselling consumer guidebook Non-Toxic: Guide to Living Healthy in a Chemical World and coeditor of the textbook Integrative Environmental Medicine, part of the Oxford University Press/Weil Integrative Medicine Academic Series. In her tenure as an environmental health expert, Dr. Cohen has been interviewed by countless national print and television outlets, given popular TEDx talks, published peer-reviewed medical articles, acted as a legal medical expert for exposure cases, and she has collaborated with the Environmental Working Group, Cancer Schmancer, and other eminent disease-prevention or­ganizations. She has received countless awards for her work in health education, including the Burton L. Eichler Award for humanitarianism. Today, Dr. Cohen manages The Smart Human social media platform and podcast she created and continues to see patients in her medical practice in Princeton, New Jersey, where she lives on a farm with her husband, two sons, and lots of furry friends.
