About The Book

A collection of self-contained chapters exploring human imperfections, life, and death through humor and raw introspection, perfect for readers who enjoy character-driven, literary fiction.

The characters in Dominic Hoffman's tales of Late Rehearsals are familiar. Their choices are recognizable, and the people are far from perfect. Humor is a constant.

However, their most significant commonality is the sense that every day is a rehearsal for the next. In this compilation of narratives, contemporary fables and intimate accounts, we travel cultures and cities, contemplate life and death to discover that our lives can be justified, vilified or distanced by the simple act of viewing the lives of others.

The individuals in these stories walk their own paths, and their Late Rehearsals will continue into the inevitable closing night.

"I love adventure! Dominic Hoffman's stories deliver multiple exciting adventures. I was along for the ride from beginning to end! And I wanted more."

– Carl Weathers, Actor/Director, Rocky, The Mandalorian

“Allow me to recommend to you the work of Dominic Hoffman. In the most sincere literary praise of my native Chicago: ‘This guy writes real good.’ Sincerely yours,”

– David Mamet, Pulitzer-prize winning playwright, Speed the Plow, Glengarry Glen Ross

“The triumph of Hoffman’s stories is his ability to create characters you want to be with, and worlds you don’t want to leave. These stories are thoughtful, authentic, and very entertaining. The words wrap themselves around your brain, paint vivid pictures and before you realize it, have beguilingly taken you away.”

– Timothy Prager, Screenwriter, Silent WitnessWaking the Dead, 55 Degrees North

“From the homeless ghosts of Venice, CA, to the Gauloise-scented banks of the Seine, Dominic Hoffman's tales get us nodding -- like we think we know where he's going -- then reverse themselves to land us where we never expected to be. His voice is elegant, raw, and authentic. His words will haunt you.”

– Michael Schiffer, Screenwriter, ColorsLean on MeCrimson Tide

“The world is coming to an end and Dominic Hoffman is giving us the play by play. His percussive prose dances from the Pacific to the Seine and beyond, where the species of a certain vintage rages against the dying of the night. Read him now while it’s too late.”

– Roger Guenveur Smith, Actor/Playwright, A Huey P. Newton Story, Till, Do the Right Thing

“Hoffman’s stories have a rare, wonderful light playing through them. Immensely enjoyable.”
